A Academia anunciou nessa manhã de segunda-feira, 15 de março, os candidatos a receber a estatueta da 93 edição dos prêmios Oscar. A cerimônia foi conduzida pela atriz Priyanka Chopra Jonas e pelo cantor e ator Nick Jonas onde revelaram os nomeados para os prêmios desse ano.

“Mank” liderou com 10 indicações, incluindo melhor filme, melhor diretor para David Fincher, melhor ator para Gary Oldman, melhor atriz coadjuvante para “Amanda Seyfried”, melhor fotografia, melhor figurino, melhor maquiagem e cabelo, trilha sonora original, design de produção e som. Os longas “The Father”, “Judas and The Black Messiah”, “Sound of Metal”, “Nomadland”, “MInari” e “The Trial of the Chicago 7” também estão na corrida na categoria de melhor filme.
Seis filmes tiveram 6 indicações: “The Father”, “Sound of Metal”, “Judas and the Black Messiah”, “The Trial of the Chicago 7”, “Nomaldland” e “Minari”. Enquanto, “Promising Young Woman” e Ma Raine’s Black Bottom” receberam cinco nomeações.
Essa é a primeira vez em 93 edições que duas mulheres são indicadas a melhor direção: Chloé Zhao por “Nomadland” e Emerald Fennell por “Promising Young Woman”.
Infelizmente, o Brasil não está represento esse ano e não foi indicado para nenhum prêmio.
A Academia teve que mudar algumas regras e se adaptar a nova realidade que estamos passando devido a pandemia. Nesse ano, eles aceitaram inscrições de longas que tiveram sua estreia na internet. A Academia possui 17 ´branches´que votam para determinar os indicados em suas respectivas categorias, ou seja, atores indicam atores, editores de filmes indicam editores de filmes e assim por diante. Nas categorias de longa-metragem de animação e longa-metragem internacional, os candidatos são selecionados por voto de comitês de com membros de diferentes categorias. Todos os membros votantes são elegíveis para selecionar os indicados na categoria de Melhor Filme.
A cerimônia de entrega dos prêmios Oscar acontece no dia 25 de abril pelo canal ABC, ao vivo. Mas, o formato e o local ainda estão indefinidos.
