We got the chance to check out the new DC Universe: The Exhibit as part of the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.
With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice out in theaters and the upcoming film Suicide Squad, just two months away from its debut, the exhibit, which opened to the public May 24th, has been updated to feature authentic sets, props, and wardrobes from the two films.
Highlights of the interactive experience include the original Belle Reve prison cell set once occupied by Harley Quinn, played on-screen by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad, as well as the Bat Lab in the Batcave from Ben Affleck’s first outing as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
This DC-inspired addition follows last summer’s grand opening of the interactive Stage 48: Script to Screen that anchors the three-hour Studio Tour. As part of the Tour, you can explore sets and soundstages in which some of the greatest films and television shows in entertainment have made history, productions such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Two and Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Gravity, just to name a few, have been created in these locales. The Tour provides a unique opportunity for film and TV lovers to explore the full production process and get an insider’s look at the glory of awards season.
“Since 1934, DC Comics has built a legacy of creating the world’s greatest superheroes and super-villains,” said Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood’s Executive Director, Danny Kahn. “DC Universe: The Exhibit gives you the chance to explore the world of these characters from their first comic book appearance to our latest feature film.”
Inside DC Universe: The Exhibit, you get an exclusive sneak peek at David Ayer’s upcoming Suicide Squad, as they explore authentic props and costumes from the film on a rotating basis. Props from characters The Joker, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, Diablo, Slipknot, Rick Flag and Killer Croc will interchange throughout the summer in advance of the film’s August release.
The exhibit also showcases Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice through an interactive experience, paying homage to the ‘Man of Steel’ and the ‘Dark Knight’. You can also put your hands on some kryptonite – Superman’s only weakness – and see striking Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman costumes up close. Lois Lane, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne and Alfred costumes and original Batcave set pieceswill also be on display.
You will also be able to check the homage that the exhibit pays to the origins of DC Comics, including all seven superheroes of the Justice League which can be found xclusively at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.
The Tour is so well put-together and does such a great job of offering a unique, insider’s perspective to the world of DC Comics that, in 2015, it won a Travelers’ Choice Award from Trip Advisor and has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Attractions in the United States. Maybe it’s because the Tour allows us the opportunity not only to see the real sets and soundstages where their favorite films were made but it lets them touch and explore the spaces in a new way.
You also explore the Archive, which currently showcases props and costumes from all eight Harry Potter films. You are also welcome to stop by the Prop Department, which features one of the largest selections of rare antiquities and modern furniture, rugs, drapery, lighting and hand props from Hollywood’s golden era. Then, the Picture Car Vault, home to some of Batman’s most famous vehicles, including the new Batmobile from “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the Tumbler from “The Dark Knight” trilogy and the Bathammer from “Batman and Robin.”
Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is open daily and closes only on Christmas Day. Reservations are recommended and all children eight years or older are welcomed. Tickets are $62 per person and can be purchased online at www.wbstudiotour.com or by calling 818-977-TOUR (8687).
