Written and directed by Academy Award® winning director Damien Chazelle and starring Oscar® Best Actor nominee Ryan Gosling and Oscar® Best Actress winner Emma Stone, La La Land tells the story of Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern-day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. La La Land won 6 Academy Awards® including Best Director for writer-director Damien Chazelle, won a record-breaking 7 Golden Globe® Awards and has become a global box office phenomenon grossing over $400 million globally. The film also features ten-time Grammy®-Award winning singer/songwriter John Legend who contributed the single “Start a Fire” to the soundtrack which also includes the tracks “City of Stars” (Golden Globe® winner for Best Original Song – Motion Picture), and “Audition.”

La La Land is more than the most acclaimed movie of the year — it’s a cinematic treasure for the ages that you’ll fall in love with again and again. To celebrate the release day, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Proclaimed April 25 “La La Land Day” in Los Angeles and honored Writer and Director Damien Chazelle for his magical portrayal of the city and its iconic locations.

To mark the occasion, BANDALOOP aerial dancers performed a medley of dances inspired by the film high up on the façade of City Hall and the mayor performed with the Jazz band from the movie. Mayor Eric Garcetti was joined by Director and Writer Damien Chazelle, Producer Jordan Horowitz, Composer Justin Hurwitz, Production Designers Sandy and David Wasco and Cinematographer Linus Sandgren.
