From Executive Producer Robert Redford, Focus Features brings The Mustang! The powerful story about second changes.
Directed by French female director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, The Mustang follows Roman, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, a convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his violent past, is required to participate in an “outdoor maintenance” program as part of his state-mandated social rehabilitation. Spotted by a no-nonsense veteran trainer (Bruce Dern) and helped by an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider, portrayed by Jason Mitchell, Roman is accepted into the selective wild horse training section of the program, where he finds his own humanity in gentling an especially unbreakable mustang. Laure also wrote the script alongside Mona Fastvold e Brock Norman Brock.
The Mustang is expanding nationwide on March 22. The films also stars Jason Mitchell, Bruce Dern, Josh Stewart, Connie Britton, Gideon Adlon, Noel Gugliemi, and more.
I had the opportunity to talk to Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre and the Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts who plays the protagonist Roman.
Let’s check out the exclusive interview in English where we talked about the inspiration for the story, about Roman, about giving second chance to prisoners, and more.
